Took a little vacation back home to Chicago to see my family. The highlight of the trip was an afternoon of Cubs baseball with my brother and Uncle Bob.
It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a ball game. Here's a few snaps from the afternoon.
And yes, the Cubs lost.
I am displaying these images purely for sharing as a baseball fan. I claim no ownership or copyright to the images, as I do not have express written consent from Major League Baseball nor the Chicago Cubs.
The rear facade of Wrigley Field as you approach up Waveland Avenue.
The bleachers just aren't the same. When I was a kid, $1.50 for seats on the day of the game only. Now, there all reserved and you can't get hold of a ticket.
Ugh. Lights at Wrigley.
I know, it's needed. MLB pushed it.
I just don't have to like it.
The famous scoreboard. Still operated manually with tiles placed by hand.
A young lady getting "warmed up" with some face paint before the action starts.
A view of left field from where we were sitting.
And it shows another thing that I'm still not used to - those darn bleacher seats on the buildings across the street from the park. It used to be just a few guys in lawn chairs on the roofs. Now, these things are there and I think you even have to buy tickets...
Mark Prior takes a cut in his first at bat.
He hasn't been the pitcher he was two years ago. Injuries, head problems. But I think my brother describes it the best:
His arm fell off after the 2004 season.
Todd walker sets up as the pitch heads his way. He happened to get an "honest single" on this one.
There's Todd on first as Derek Lee is up at the plate.
So, Derek walks and we've got two men on with two outs. Aramis Ramirez is up (another guy who hasn't been the force he was two years ago). I lean over to Steve (my brother) and say he's going to pop up to the shortstop - he's been swinging for the fences all season.
I was a bit off - it was a high pop up to short left. Two more stranded...
The die-hard fan. We're up in the upper deck these days...
